صحف نت - While people around the world commemorate World Press Freedom Day , basic principles of press freedom, the status of press freedom is assessed all over the world and ways of protecting media outlets from violations are discussed, we, in Yemen, mark this day with 20 Yemeni journalists have been languishing inside the Houthi-Saleh militias for more than two years. They are subjected to mental and physical torture, and all sorts of terrorism are used against them.
To Free people of the world:
We, the families of the Yemeni abducted journalists, congratulate all journalists on the anniversary of World Press Freedom Day which we receive it with broken hearts. We are talking to you from gates of prisons and appeal to all conscientious people to express solidarity with our sons and put pressures on the Houthi-Saleh militias.
Our sons were kidnapped from their houses and their work offices without any justifications or charges. They were abducted because of their occupations as journalists, so we hope that you do your best to bring our sons back to us.
To the colleagues of the abductees:
We often stand in front of the prison's windows in which our sons are held, looking at the fatigued bodies of our sons. Their smiles are sufficient to be a pain cry for all the world. This cry will remind all of you with your colleagues thrown behind bars. We should give them hopes and we are confident that you will never give up your colleagues and that you will do best to put an end to torture and abuse practiced against them inside the cells of notorious prisons of the Houthi-militias.
To human rights organizations:
To all human rights organizations and all other authorities concerned in rights of press, we highly appreciate your support to the abducted journalists at this critical time. Actually, we are proud of your efforts exerted to alleviate suffering of our sons.
We address your humanity and noble feelings, and remind you of your moral obligations towards the suffering of your fellow Yemeni journalists. Actually, the lives of us and our sons turned into hell. Based on your rights duties, we ask you to put pressures on the Houthi-Saleh militias to release our sons without any conditions and not to use them as cards for political bargaining.
We express deep concern for the deteriorating health the abducted journalists which their conditions worsen day bay day due to systemic torture and intentional neglect. All these things endanger their lives, so we hold the Houthi-Saleh militias responsible for their safety, particularly as some murder cases occurred inside prisons of the Houthi-Saleh militias. Over 80 persons were murdered under torture inside these notorious prisons.
With the commemoration of World Press Freedom Day, we wait for the day on which our abducted sons will be released.
