Militants of the Houthi group and forces loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh attacked on Tuesday a village in Hamadan district, north of the capital Sana'a, and opened the fire on a tribal figure and his two sons, before the local tribesmen arrest 7 militants.
A local source told Almasdaronline that the tribesmen repelled the Houthis’ attack on the village, and did not allow them abduct the tribal figure Yahya Saleh Awadah, who was injured by the militants along with his two sons.
“The Houthis had earlier tried to abduct the tribal figure from al Muamar mosque in Hamdan”.
“The tribesmen of the area surrounded the Houthi militants and arrested 7 of them, while the tribal figure and his sons were taken to hospital”.
“After that, a tribal mediation committee headed by General Muhammad Yahya al-Hawri, the former Six Military Region commander, managed with to calm the situation and deliver the captives to the Houthis”. Added the source.
General al Hawri told Almasdaronline that the Houhtis opened the fire on Sheikh Mawadah, describing the incident as “misunderstanding”.
Al Hawri pointed out the mediation committee is working on resolving the issue at the earliest possible.
